As if Uncle Sam is trying to remind us of something, Wesley Snipes has reportedly been released from federal prison after spending over two years incarcerated for tax evasion.
But the Mo Better Blues star is not completely out of the clear. TMZ reports that Snipes was released on April 2 (exactly 13 days before the deadline to file federal taxes, may I remind you) and then transferred to the New York Community Corrections Office, where his house arrest will be monitored until July 19.
Snipes turned himself into McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania on December 2010 after running out of appeal options when he was convicted of evading taxes — after forcing the government to give him slave reparations by claiming a tax credit for it.
Wesley Snipes is rumored to be one of the cast members in The Expendables 3, which is expected to begin filming later this year to make a Summer 2014 release date. So hopefully the U.S. Marshals actor would have ditched the ankle bracelet by then.
