On tonight’s Law & Order: SVU season 14, episode 18 “Legitimate Rape,” a popular sports reporter seeks out Detective Benson to accuse a cameraman of rape and stalking. The SVU squad and ADA Barba begin their preparations for a difficult trial when the victim learns she is pregnant as result of the rape. As the case proceeds, the defense uses controversial tactics in its efforts to persuade the jury.
Created by Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf, the show is a hard-hitting and emotional series from NBC’s “Law & Order” brand chronicles the life and crimes of the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department, an elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes. Dedicated Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), a seasoned veteran of the unit who has seen it all, heads up the department with empathy and professionalism, all the while dealing with her difficult past – as a product of rape and a witness to her mother’s grief, she can personally relate to each victim she tries to help.
Law & Order: SVU is now in its fourteenth season and the series has received several awards. “Legitimate Rape” airs tonight, March 27, at 9:00pm on NBC.
