Gary Oldman is the latest star to join Child 44, the film adaptation of Tom Rob Smith’s novel of the same name. He will play opposite his long time colleagues Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace and Joel Kinnaman.
The last time Oldman and Hardy shared the screen was in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, where the two men were enemies, and not much will change in the Child 44 movie.
Set in 1950’s Russia, Oldman will play the head of police, who is looking into dual murders that implicates Hardy’s character, who is member of the Soviet military police. Rapace will play Hardy’s less than favorable wife and Kinnaman will play Hardy’s bloodthirsty partner in crime.
Richard Price was enlisted to adapt the screenplay from Smith’s novel. Danier Espinosa is directing Child 44, which is slated to begin shooting in June.
However, you won’t have to wait long to see Oldman doing his thing, for he will be staring in the upcoming RoboCop remake and Dawn of The Planet of The Apes.
