As the Fifty Shades of Grey casting rumors continue to run wild, Emma Watson could not hold her tongue – or at least her fingers – any longer. The Harry Potter star took to Twitter on Sunday to sound off on whether or not she’s tied up in any way with the bondage movie.
“Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Gray as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life,” Tweeted Watson of the erotic role. “Good. Well, that’s sorted then. :)”
Last week, the hacker group, Anonymous, added fuel to the fire after they leaked documents purporting Emma Watson would play the beautiful college student Ana Steele, who is seduced into all kinds of sadistic sex acts in the film based on E L James’s novel.
In an earlier statement, Universal Studios shot down all the endless speculation and denied Watson was attached to Fifty Shades of Grey, claiming “no one has been cast yet.”
James himself has even come out against the rumors on Twitter, tweeting, “There have been no casting decisions made about Fifty Shades.”
So there you have it. This should squash all the Fifty Shades of Grey casting rumors… Right? I thinks not! Neither Emma Watson, Universal, nor E L James has technically denied it. All they are really saying is no final decisions have been made. This doesn’t really mean Watson isn’t in negotiations or at least being considered.
So all this coming out in force to dispel rumors, makes me wonder if there’s actually an attempt to cover things up. I mean, which studio wouldn’t want to keep casting news under wraps until the details have been finalized?
