Jeff Probst is probably happy he kept his prime time job after hearing the news today from CBS executives about his talk show, The Jeff Probst Show.
CBS TV Distribution made the decision to pull the plug on the show after just one season. In a recent statement CBS shared said, “We believe Jeff is an incredible talent, and that his dedicated producing team delivered quality episodes throughout the season. Unfortunately, the audience isn’t there to support a second year. We are grateful to the entire staff, our affiliate partners and advertisers for their ongoing support of The Jeff Probst Show. Production and broadcast of original episodes will continue through the current season.”
Probst, who also hosts the long-running CBS reality television show Survivor, commented about the cancellation saying “I am super bummed, but extremely proud. The truth is all shows come to an end. Ours just ended a decade sooner than we had hoped.”
The Jeff Probst Show is just one in a recent string of daytime talk show cancellations. Also, on the chopping block was The Ricci Lake Show, and a bit more surprising Anderson Cooper LIVE, that was in the show’s second season.
Other hosts in their freshmen year fared better than those who didn’t make the cut. Katie Couric, Steve Harvey and Trisha Goddard all had their shows recently renewed for a second season.
