NBC has cast Victoria Smurfit, as a second leading lady to play in the upcoming series ‘Dracula‘. The Irish actress is set to play Lady Jayne, in the drama that has been picked up for 10 episodes and has bypassed the television pilot stage.
‘Dracula‘ will add a new spin on an old tale. The story takes place in the 1890s as Alan Grayson (“Dracula), played by Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers, leads a double life in London as an American businessman interested in bringing modern science to the Victorian society. However, this identity is just a rouse because he is actually there to exact revenge on those who have wronged him centuries ago. Ultimately, his plan gets a little derailed when he meets Mina, played by Arrow‘s Jessica DeGouw, who he believes is a reincarnation of his deceased wife.
Let the love triangle commence! Smurfit’s character, Lady Jayne, is a beautiful and charming woman who is instantly drawn to Dracula as he too is drawn to her.
Also, rounding out the cast so far, is Merlin‘s Katie McGrath and Game of Thrones’ Nonso Anozie. Smurfit’s other works include About a Boy, The Beach and more recently, Bulletproof Monk.
‘Dracula’ is set to air on NBC’s fall 2013 line-up.
