'Girls' Will Be Back For Round 3

HBO’s award winning series, Girlswill be back for a third season of awkward encounters among struggling twenty-somethings.

Girls writer/executive producer/ star Lena Dunham implied the renewal on a podcast with Alec Baldwin earlier this week. She revealed Girls would be moving their set to the soon to be vacated 30 Rock set. Now, per Deadline, the contracts are signed and the news is official. Not only will Hannah, Marnie, Shoshanna, and Jessa be back for a third season, but it will be a longer season than before. The first two seasons of Girls only had ten episode runs, but season 3 will expand to twelve.

A third season should really come as no surprise. Lena Dunham scooped up at the Golden Globes two weeks ago, winning Best Comedy Series and Best Comedy Actress. The series is wildly popular, in spite of some early criticism and complaints of nepotismGirls is often described as the ‘anti-Sex and the City” and provides wildly hilarious, awkward, and relatable encounters between young people – in and out of the bedroom.

If you haven’t tuned in to Girls yet you probably should. Be warned this is not a show to watch with your parents or even with your roommate. Things can get really, really weird (but in a good way.)
