Friday Night Lights alumni, Jurnee Smollett, will encounter the supernatural as she joins the True Blood cast. The actress was recently cast as a regular for the show’s upcoming sixth season and will be joined by 90210 star Amelia Rose Blaire, who also just landed a role on the HBO hit television show.
Smollett had planned to star in NBC’s women prison drama Bad Girls, but the station didn’t continue with the project giving her this new opportunity. The young actress has another TV role where she will star as the daughter of Phylicia Rashad’s character in NBC’s Jekyll-and-Hyde-ish thriller, Do No Harm.
The former Full House star, Smollett, who portrayed Michelle Tanner’s best friend, will be optimist Nicole on True Blood. According to TVLine, “the character is a do-gooder who possesses the rosy outlook of someone that life hasn’t beaten down yet. She’s not concerned with money and more concerned with the doing what’s right.”
Blaire’s character’s name is Willa, who’s the daughter of Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell that is constantly bumping heads with her father over vampire rights.
You can also catch Jurnee Smollett star in Tyler Perry’s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor which premieres in theaters on March 29th.
True Blood‘s sixth season will premiere in June.
