Mama managed to stir up some screams at the box office for the holiday weekend, as it grossed $10 million on its debut Friday.
The Guillero Del Toro produced horror film is set to make $30 million by the end of Monday night. The film, which stars Jessica Chastain and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, is battling it out with Chastain’s other movie Zero Dark Thirty, the film which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Zero Dark Thirty is currently second after earning $4.5 million Friday, which is expected to total $18 million by the end of the four day weekend.
If it was a children’s track competition, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s The Last Stand wouldn’t even receive a green ribbon. Making just $2 million from 2,913 locations, The Last Stand is set to finish the weekend close to the bottom of the top ten box office list. The top five films for this weekend are: Mama, Zero Dark Thirty, Broken City Silver Lining Playbook and finally Gangster Squad . Full list below:
