'Arrow' Star Joins NBC's 'Dracula'

According to sources, Jessica De Gouw, the young Australian actress from CBS”s The Arrow, will co-star in NBC’s adaption of Dracula.

Going from the superhero world to the supernatural one, De Gouw, will co-star opposite of Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the new vampire series that is set to premiere this Fall.

The series will take place in 1890s London, as Dracula (Meyers) lives a double life as a businessman trying to bring modern science to Victorian London, and his other life trying to seek revenge on those who burdened him centuries before.  During the time, Dracula also falls in love with Mina (De Gouw), who is the only woman studying to be a doctor at University College in London.  Mina is said to be a reincarnation of Dracula’s dead wife.

On the other hand, Mina is described as being forward-thinking, clever and an independent young woman, who feels more at home at a bohemian party than sipping tea in a drawing room.

Dracula will have co-producuction by British Sky Broadcasting, Carnival Films & Television, Flame Ventures, and NBC Universal.  Tony Krantz (24) and former HBO Films President Colin Callender, will also co-produce along with writer-creator Cole Haddon.  Dracula will be broadcasted stateside by NBC, and by Sky Living in the UK. Gareth Neame (Downton Abbey) and Anne Mensah are also helping with the series, along with Reece Pearson, who will serve as another co-executive producer.
