Any Day Now starsĀ Alan Cumming and Garret Dillahunt as Rudy and Paul respectively, a gay couple looking to adopt teenager, Marco (Isaac Leyva), who is abandoned and has downs syndrome. The movie is set in the 1970’s, the couple face a biased legal system as they fight to adopt the abandoned teen and begin breaking down stigmas that still plague society today.
Any Day Now has already won a handful of film festival awards including the Audience Award at the Tribeca, Napa Valley, Chicago International, Seattle International, Provincetown International, Woodstock and Outfest Film Festivals of 2012. Alan Cumming also won the Best Actor award at the Seattle International Film Festival, Outfest, and the Napa Valley Film Festival.
The plotline alone is enough reason to see the compelling film, and the oodles of awards ensure that you won’t be wasting your time. This new poignant film is sure to get some Oscar nods later this year. Check out the trailer here:
