After greenlighting a sequel over a year ago, Universal Pictures is ready have Malcolm Lee do a follow up to his debut film, ‘The Best Man.’ The studio has set November 15, 2013 as a release date.
Lee will write and direct the film with Sean Daniel coming on board as a co-producer. It hasn’t been determined yet if Spike Lee, Malcolm’s cousin, and his production company, 40 Acres & A Mule Filmworks, will also be back as a producer.
Considered among many as one of the best Black romantic comedy films, ‘The Best Man’ opened #1 at the box office when it came on October 22, 1999. The original grossed $35 million.
