In that latest update of the shooting at Pastor Creflo Dollar’s World Changes Church, a man has been identified. A former employee of Creflo Dollar’s church, 52-year old Floyd Palmer has been identified as the shooter. According to reports gathered by the witnesses and retold by Fulton County Police Cpl. Kay Lester Palmer “walked in calmly, opened fire, and left as calmly.” The sole victim, a 39-year old church volunteer named Greg McDowell, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police would later locate Palmer at Lenox Square mall in Atlanta, reportedly he was taken into custody without incident. Palmer’s car, a black Subaru was found in the parking lot of the upscale mall but police did not recover a weapon.

He was charged with homicide and possession of firearms in commission of a homicide, with additional charges pending.

The motive behind the shooting is unknown but records of a man believed to be Palmer indicates he was charged in Baltimore in 2001 with attempted murder, assault and handgun charges.

Rev. Creflo Dollar, the founder of the megachurch was not present at the time of the shooting and has not released an official statement. Later in the evening at Bible study Dollar did address the church, “We pray for this family. We pray for both families and then we pray for every family that’s in here tonight.”
