R. Kelly makes history….at the Soul Train Awards. The R&B singer landed two nominations for the 2012 Soul Train Awards; one for Ashford & Simpson songwriter’s award and another for album of the year. The latest tally puts R. Kelly at 21 nominations, the most ever in Soul Train’s history.
Others nominated this year includes Usher with 5, Estelle, Nas and John Legend.
The Soul Train Awards will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer on November 8th at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The show will air several weeks later on Nov. 25th.
Recognition for his music comes as welcomed news for R. Kelly who recently suffered a major financial setback. According to reports the 45-year old Chicago born entertainer reportedly owes the IRS a grand total of $6, 227, 767. 82. His latest 2011 filing added $1,379,695 to the total. Kelly’s lawyer insist the singer is working out a solution with the IRS,
“He takes this very seriously and is already communicating with the IRS about the payment process to quickly resolve the issue.”
