Rumor Claims: 'Star Trek: Into Darkness' May Be The Title to Star Trek Sequel

The rumor mills are firing up today, September 8, about the Star Trek sequel. Oddly enough, it’s the same day of Star Trek 46th anniversary.

One source happens to be Comingsoon.net, the film site has reported that J.J. Abrams’ sequel to Paramount’s Star Trek will be entitled Star Trek: Into Darkness. The site didn’t really validate their bold claim, however, the domain names  www.startrekintodarkness.com and www.startrekintodarknessmovie.com have been registered through a company called MarkMonitor, a company that has known ties to Paramount Pictures.

Filming has already begun for the sequel, but Abrams and Paramount have managed to keep information on the film sealed like Fort Knox. It’s already weeks into shooting and the films own IMDB page ( The granddaddy of movie sites), has it listed as Untitled Star Trek Sequel. Well, only time will tell whether this rumor is true.

The only rock solid intel is that Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana will return to star, along with co-stars Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller. Star Trek, whatever the official title may be, is slated to hit theaters May 17, 2013.
