A new Dredd clip has arrived online, featuring the rookie Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) explaining her desire to make a difference right before her and Dredd (Karl Urban) prepares to enter Ma-Ma’s Peach Trees tower block.
The Dredd movie is a remake of the abysmal 1995 film which starred Sylvester Stallone as the iconic 2000AD character. We see Judge Dredd and his rookie partner Judge Anderson engaged in an all out battle through the various levels of the tower building. At each level they face more and more goons bent on protecting Ma-Ma ( Heather Headey), a cruel gang leader who controls a vast drug empire that supplies Mega-City One with the reality-altering drug Slo-Mo
The clip doesn’t feature the characteristic violence and gun blasting, but it does give some insight into how Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby will portray their characters.
“I want to protect and serve the city,” explains Anderson. “I was born and raised in a block like this… I know there are good people inside.” A cold and stoic Dredd dismisses her comments as naive.
Directed by Pete Travis from a script by Alex Garland, Dredd opens in the U.S. on September 21st, 2012.
