Gene Simmons Family Jewels will probably no longer been seen on television. The show, which has been on A&E for seven seasons, has been canceled.
“We could not be more proud of the unparalleled run of Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” A&E said in a statement. “On behalf of everyone at A&E, we’d like to thank the production team at Thinkfactory Media, Gene and his amazing family for their partnership, collaboration and for opening up their lives, warts-and-all, to us throughout the years.”
The series followed KISS’ Gene Simmons, his girlfriend/wife Shannon Tweed, and their two kids, Sophie and Nick. Ratings for the show dropped and that’s what sprung the cancellation. Last year’s wedding episode saw the series’ high point, bringing over 3 million viewers. A&E secured the rights to show Gene and Shannon’s nuptial ceremony, but those increased numbers were hard to maintained into season seven.
Simmons family released a statement saying, “It has been a wonderful life-altering experience for our family and after seven successful seasons, we feel it’s time to move on.”
Gene Simmons Family Jewels premiered on A&E August 7, 2006.
