Bobby Brown Battling Alcoholism; Back In Rehab

Bobby Brown is back in rehab a mere two months after remarrying and less than six months after the death of ex-wife Whitney Houston.

His wife, Alicia Etherage, confirmed he was in a facility saying, “he’s doing great,” but did not elaborate. Brown is reportedly in treatment for alcoholism after members of the group New Edition became concerned about his drinking, according to Radar Online.

According to a source, Brown’s kids are his motivation to go back to rehab. “He decided that he needed help and wants to make the best of out of the rest of his life for his children’s sake,” the source said to TMZ. “He realized he couldn’t do it on his own.”

Brown has had a rough year with the death of pop icon Houston and the subsequent drama at her funeral. He was also accused of introducing her to drugs and causing her addiction, an accusation that was very hurtful for Brown, he said.

“It’s just unexplainable . . how one could, you know, [say that I] got her addicted to drugs. I’m not the reason she’s gone,” he said. “I was hurt … because, you know, me being off of narcotics for the last seven years – I felt that she was, you know, I didn’t know she was struggling with it still. But at the same time, you know – listen, it’s a hard fight.”

Although Brown has claimed he has been clean for seven years, he drinking problems persist. He was arrested for DUI in March, a month after Houston’s death, the latest addition to his long history of run-ins with the law. According to the arresting officer, Brown was originally pulled over for driving while using his cellular phone.

“We observed intoxication once Mr. Brown was pulled over,” said Officer Tiana Redd to Radar Online. “We put him through four sobriety tests, none of which he passed.”

There was no word on if a specific incident sparked Brown’s decision to seek rehab.
