Lionsgate has just announced that Lynn Cohen has been cast as Mags in The Hunger Games: Catching fire. Mags is the 80-year-old former mentor to Finnick Odair who represented District 4 in the games.
Catching Fire will begin with Katniss Everdeen returning home safe after winning the Hunger Games along with Peeta Mallark. Winning means that they must abandoned their family and friends and embark on the Victor’s Tour of the districts. During the trip Katniss senses a rebellion brewing, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President snow prepare the next round of deadly games.
The veteran actress is best known for her decades of work entertaining audiences on the New York stage. Cohen also appeared in films such as Steven Spielberg’s Munich and the Sex and the City sequel. She just recently completed filming They come Together.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is going to be directed by Francis Lawrence and is the adaptation of Suzanne Collins best-selling novel Catching Fire. A book that sold 50 million copies in the U.S. alone. Lionsgate has set a release date for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire for November 22, 2013.
