The Bulter, a film which is based on Eugene Allen, a black butler who worked at the White House from 1952 to 1986, has signed on another actor.
Director Lee Daniels has hired Nelsan Ellis to play Martin Luther King Jr in the upcoming film that already has an impressive cast. Forest Whitaker is playing the main character and Oprah is playing the wife of the the butler. Also starring in the film is David Oyelowo, Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack, Alan Rickman, Terence Howard, Cuba Good Jr., Jane Fonda, Nicole Kidman, Lenny Kravitz, Colman Domingo, Pernell Walker, Minka Kelly, Jess Williams and Robin Williams.
The movie was inspired by an article written about Eugene’s life story by Wil Haygood. The butler started working at the White House at a time when blacks were still discriminated against in America.
Ellis currently plays Lafayette Reynolds in True Blood. He also just completed shooting films The Reluctant Fundamentalist and Gods Behaving Badly.
The Butler is currently shooting in New Orleans.
