Pop star Will.i.am was in for a surprise when he visited the Graham Norton show last night as Harry Potter actress Miriam Margoyles expressed her fascination with meeting a black man.
“Unfortunately, I don’t know many black people. We don’t get to meet across the coloor line much except in show business and that’s what’s so nice,” she said. The comments left the artist speechless.
Inbetweeners actor Greg Davies tried to use humor to lighten the situation, joking “it’s exotic.” Meanwhile host Graham Norton egged the 71-year-old actress on, “It’s lovely Miriam, you’re right.”
Margolyes slipped her foot further into her mouth with her next statement, saying, “You’re fabulous! How unexpected that a rapper would do this. I don’t have a very positive attitude towards rappers. I don’t really know any, you’re the first one I’ve actually talked to.”
The actress later attempted to ease the tension caused by her comments, asking the pop star if he had “heard of Jews.”
