The Hangover was in Las Vegas, The Hangover: Part II took place in Bangkok, and now, according to sources, the third movie is slated to be filmed in Tijuana, Mexico.
The Mexican city has been picked to host one wild week for Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Bradley Cooper in The Hangover: Part III. Other filming will also take place in Las Vegas and in multiple locations in Los Angeles.
“Obviously we always envisioned it as a trilogy,” said Todd Phillip, the director of the hit comedy. “The third would be very much a finale and an ending… I haven’t discussed it with these actors yet. [It would] not follow the same template but is very much a new idea.”
Back in January of this year, Cooper, Galifianakis, and Helms went through a battle with Warner Bros. over their compensation for the third edition of the film. The three joined forces and asked the studio for $15 million each (against backend) to reprise their roles in the upcoming movie.
That amount is a major jump from what the actors got paid in 2009, for the original Hangover film. For part one, the three were paid under $1 million each for the film which grossed a whopping $467 million worldwide.
