A true work-horse! That’s what many would call Ridley Scott.
According to IMDB, Scott has 13 films that he is currently working on. Now granted, most of these films will never see the light of day, but even if that workload is cut in half, that’s still six and half films! Wouldn’t you think that would be enough for the 75 year-old director?
As the movie-going community buzzes about his new sci-fi/horror film Prometheus, the director has already set his sights on The Counselor, which begins production later this month, and the epic tale of one of the Bible’s most famous characters: Moses.
“I’ve got something else in the works,” said Scott. “I’m already doing it. It’s called Moses. Seriously, seriously, it’s going to happen. I probably shouldn’t have let that slip out. I’m not supposed to say anything. It’s definitely in the cards, though. What’s interesting to me about Moses isn’t the big stuff that everybody knows. It’s things like his relationship with Ramses [II, the pharaoh]. I honestly wasn’t paying attention in school when I was told the story of Moses. Some of the details of his life are extraordinary.”
Steven Spielberg announced earlier this year that he is also planning to make a movie about Moses, titled Gods And Kings. Whereas that project is being created as an epic Breaveheart meets Saving Private Ryan, Scott’s has indicated that his Moses will be more of an intimate character study.
As for Scott’s assurance, “Seriously, seriously, it’s going to happen”… it still doesn’t mean it’s going to happen anytime soon. Due to all the buzz following Prometheus, a sequel is probably going to be higher on Fox’s priority list than Moses.
So let’s be real, do you think Scott will ever get around to making Moses?
