Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsmen was the main attraction this Friday despite getting harsh reviews from top critics. Meanwhile Men In Black 3 holds strong in second place. The Avengers continue to amaze, breaking two more records.
Snow White opened to $20.3 million from 3,773 locations on Friday. This is more than the complete opening weekend of the first Snow White movie Mirror Mirror, which received a less harsh critique from critics. Based on Friday’s performance, Snow White and The Huntsman is predicted to make $55 million this weekend.
Men In Black 3 made another $8.3 million on Friday, for a grand total of $91.3 million. Those numbers are down from Men In Black 2, which totaled $103.9 million in the same time frame.
The Avengers made a total of $538.1 million domestically this Friday – and that was enough to push the film past The Dark Knight’s $533.3 million to claim the third highest grossing movie domestically of all time. The movie also moved ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 at $1.331 billion to make it the third highest grossing movie internationally of all time.
