Based on Friday’s box office numbers it’s clear that Marvel’s The Avengers is stealing all the attention away from three box office newcomers. Today, it will become the highest grossing domestic release in Disney history.
Battleship is sinking with less than expected numbers, collecting only $9 million on Friday. The Peter Berg directed action film scored a “B” CinemaScore.
Lionsgate’s What To Expect When You’re Expecting didn’t fare any better, coming in 4th place with only $3.8 million, and projecting to make only $11 million for the weekend. Audience’s gave it a meager B- CinemaScore.
Despite all the promotions, marketing and weird appearances around Hollywood from The Dictator, the film was only able to spark slight interest from moviegoers. Audiences gave it a laughable “C” score. So don’t expect word of mouth to improve these numbers for any of these films.
