HBO has awarded both Veep and Girls with second seasons, just weeks after each show debuted the first episodes of their freshman run.
Veep stars Seinfeld’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus as disenfranchised Vice President Selina Meyer, while Tony Hale and Anna Chlumsky play in supporting roles. The HBO dramedy was created by Armando Iannucci, co-writer of In The Loop.
After grossing an audience of over 3.7 million viewers, Veep is set to show ten new episodes next season.
Girls, which follows four 20-something women struggling to find their way in New York, was created, produced, directed and written by 25-year-old Lena Dunham. She also stars in the series. Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner executive produce the series alongside Dunham. According to HBO, season 1 has managed to attract 3.8 million viewers so far and will also return next season for ten more episodes.
Veep airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET while Girls airs Sundays at 10:30 p.m. ET on HBO.
