Sony has announced that the 24th installment of the James Bond franchise is confirmed to hit theaters in 2014.
The news comes on the heels of the studio’s announcement of the first trailer for the 23rd Bond movieĀ Skyfall, which will arrive next month.
Although the gap between Quantum Of Solace and Skyfall was four years, (due to financial instabilities at MGM), Sony plans to return the franchise to a 2-year schedule. Therefore, they are pushing hard for the film to be completed by the end of 2014.
Daniel Craig, who was bound by contract to play James Bond the last three times, has the right of first refusal for the next Bond film. So if the British actor decides against a fourth run as 007, Sony may have to make Bond 24 a reboot.
Since the studio, presumably, would rather not go in that direction, they may make Craig a very attractive offer to keep him in his black tuxedo for the next Bond project.
