Spike TV is teaming up with the Executive Producer of The Amazing Race to create a reality show centered around the MMA.
Earlier this year, the UFC reality series The Ultimate Fighter left Spike TV for FX. Now, Spike is coming together with its new mixed martial arts league partner, the emerging Bellator Fighting Championships, to produce another fighting series.
The duo, Spike and Bellator, have hired Bertram van Munster, co-creator/executive producer of CBS’ The Amazing Race, to make the new reality show, which will showcase the Bellator fighters.
“Some of the most physically-gifted and fascinating athletes in the world fight in Bellator, and I believe they make ideal subjects for an innovative new non-scripted series,” said van Munster.
Munster will executive produce the new series along with Elise Doganieri, who is his wife and fellow The Amazing Race co-creator/executive producer.
The series, which will be an hour long, will premiere in 2013.
