MTV has recently renewed The Real World and Challenge spin-off for another season. This will be the
Challenge’s 23rd season, while The Real World will be making its 27th season run.
The Real World is a reality TV show on MTV. The series, which was first broadcast in 1992, was inspired by the 1973 PBS documentary series ‘An American Family’. The Real World is the longest-running program in MTV’s history. It is also one of the longest-running reality series programs ever. Many credit the TV show as being the Godfather of the modern day reality TV genre.
The Challenge (originally Real World/Road Rules Challenge), was a spin off from MTV’s two hit reality shows, The Real World and the now cancelled series, Road Rules. It’s hosted by T.J. Lavin.
The most recent Challenge: Battle of the Exes had much success being the most-watched in seven seasons, while the most recent Real World calculated the best season average in five seasons.
The Real World: St. Thomas is already filming and will premiere later this year.
