Bobby Brown was arrested Monday afternoon in the San Fernando Valley, California on suspicion of driving under the influence and according to one of Whitney Houston‘s friend Kim Burrell, Brown is having a difficult time coping with the singer’s death.
Bobby Brown, was initially pulled over for talking on his cell phone, but impaired behavior thereafter enticed a field sobriety test.
Apparently the “Tender Roni” singer failed the test and was taken into custody at a Van Nuys jail, awaited bail, and then released later that afternoon.
According to reports, Brown already has a DUI conviction on his record after pleading guilty to a 1996 arrest in Georgia. He served eight days in jail as a result of the charge.
Bobby’s arrest comes four days after the preliminary findings of Whitney Houston’s death was released citing an accidental drowning in addition to heart disease and chronic cocaine use as the contributors to the icon’s untimely demise.
Kim Burrell empathizes with Bobby telling the News,
“I support Bobby. He spent 17 years in a relationship and marriage with Whitney, so why wouldn’t he be going through some difficult times right now? He happens to be a public person who’s getting through a private moment, and the whole world is hearing about it. And he has my full, 100% support to get better.” she said.
Burrell added that during this grieving period Bobby may “sometimes do these things” because they’re not thinking straight but she insists “he’s coping, and unfortunately everything is raised up a notch because of Whitney’s death.”
