Jeremy Piven In Talks To Play Flamboyant Entrepreneur 'Mr. Selfridge'

Jeremy Piven is in talks to star in the series drama Mr. Selfridge. ITV announced the news last week.

Mr. Selfridge will tell the life story of the crazed visionary American moneymaker, Harry Gordon Selfridge. The TV show will highlight the starting of his famous london department store Mr Selfridge.  Mr. Selfridge will be set in London in 1909, at a time when the richest women in the world enjoyed newfound liberties in life. The entrepreneur catered to these women by making shopping ‘as thrilling as sex’.

Based on the book Shopping Seduction and Mr. Selfridge by Lindy Woodhead, the series is expected to be as widely popular as another ITV drama directed by Jon Jones called Downtown Abbey.

Jones will direct the show with Chrissy Skinns and Kate Lewis executive producing.

The actor has been sought out for some time now by ITV, due to the British network wanting a high-profile American actor to helm the lead role. Best know for his flamboyant role as Ari Gold on HBO’s Entourage, Piven earned himself 3 Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe.

Production is set to begin in April in London.
