Sigourney Weaver is set to lead in Political Animals.
Political Anmimals is a TV show which follows Elain Barrish (Weaver), who is a newly divorced First Lady recovering from her disappointing loss at the presidential nomination. She relies heavily on her son Doug, who is an ambition political figure that serves as her chief of staff, but is haunted by his twin brother who struggles with an addiction. Elaine also tries to keep her family together while simultaneously battling with a hungry DC journalist set on destroying her career.
This will mark the veteran actress’ TV network debut. Weaver joins Brittany Ishibashi who will play Doug’s fiancée.
Written by Greg Berlanti and Laurence Mark, the political show is a fictional take on the former first lady Hillary Clinton and a family dynasty weakened by power, lust, and greed. Political Animals is set to air this summer.
While the TV show is launching as a six episode mid-season pick up, producer Warner Horizon is anticipating the network will pick it up for a full season going forward.
