Naomi Campbell pays tribute to the incomparable, iconic rock-and-roll music legend Tina Turner in V Magazine’s sport-themed issue. What does the supermodel have to do with sports? Nothing. But her svelte frame is toned—akin to an athlete.
Besides, who best to embody any look, be fitting or not, than the Naomi?
Days after closing Roberto Cavalli’s fashion show in Milan, the fiercest of them all appeared in the mag donning Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Marc Jacobs (to name a few) looks that “What’s Love Got To Do With It” singer made ever so appealing. The up-to-there slits, fringes galore, and barely-there silhouettes revealing an envied muscular (yet feminine) frame that echoes the on-stage persona of pop diva Tina Turner.
“Whatever it is that I’m wearing, [I want to] show it in the best possible way,” the 41-year-old told “The Telegragh” after the Cavalli show.
“Fringed frocks and rock-and-roll worthy mini-dresses are simply the best pieces for Naomi Campbell as she stylishly embodies the great Tina Turner,” introduces the black and white stills taken by Daniele Duella and Iango Henzi.
Styled by Joanne Blades, a regular for “Harper’s Bazaar”, Campbell can be seen in differing looks in each shot, from mid-air kicks to swarming arms, each emulates the icon to a tee. And the body is a dead ringer too—biceps and legs for days.
Did Naomi get in shape for the shoot?
Campbell is always a mirror of fitness and credits her enduring workout habits of gyrotonic (an exercise plan which uses movements usually found in gymnastics, yoga and pilates – to stay slim) and body cleanses as foremost culprits.
“I don’t like workouts that make you bulky. This really stretches you. What I like about gyrotonics is you feel like you really elongated yourself for the day,” she has said.
