UPDATE-Bobby Brown has returned home to comfort his 18-year old daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown who has reportedly been hospitalized twice for stress and anxiety since the inauspicious death of her iconic mother Whitney Houston on Saturday. Kristina has since been released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Family members say Bobbi suffered a nervous breakdown but she’s ‘OK now.’
“Obviously the death of her mother is affecting her, however, we will get through this tragedy as a family,” Brown said in a statement to Extra. “Again, I ask for privacy during this time.”
Kristina, Whitney and Brown’s only daughter, had reportedly tried to see her dead mother after learning of her death, but was shunned by authorities because no one was privy to disrupt the scene where Whitney’s body was found. Authorities were awaiting a warrant so Whitney’s hotel room, the place of her death, could be thoroughly combed over.
Brown, who learned about his ex-wife’s tragic demise while in Southaven, Mississippi, to perform with his old group, was said to be inconsolable and having crying fits before performing Saturday night.
“First of all, I want to tell you that I love you all,” the 43-year-old singer told fans at the show, according to the Associated Press. “Second, I would like to say, ‘I love you, Whitney.’ The hardest thing for me to do is to come on this stage.”
After learning of his daughter’s difficulties of coping with the enormous loss of her mother, Brown caught the next flight out to extend his daughter the comfort of the only parent she has left.
The next day, Brown released a statement to PEOPLE, saying, “I am deeply saddened at the passing of my ex-wife, Whitney Houston. At this time, we ask for privacy, especially for my daughter, Bobbi Kristina. I appreciate all of the condolences that have been directed towards my family and I at this most difficult time.”
Whitney Houston was found unresponsive in her Beverly Hilton hotel room in Los Angeles, California on Saturday, February 11, 2012 and was pronounced dead at 3:55 P.M. The cause of death is not yet known as toxicology reports are pending.
Bobby Brown released another statement on the updated state of Bobbi Kristina,
“My daughter did visit with doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She has been released and is presently with my family including her siblings. Obviously the death of her mother is affecting her, however we will get through this tragedy as a family.”
In another update, Bobbi was reportedly found sleeping in her bathtub at the same hotel the day before her mother’s death and is believed to be suicidal.
Dr. Eric Braverman, MD, and author of “Younger Brain, Sharper Mind” tells Fox News,
“Addictive behavior tends to be genetic. A close eye needs to be taken on Bobbi as typically many addictions are cross dimensional, meaning one addiction will lead to another — alcohol, nicotine, food cravings, carb cravings, etc, all affect different areas of the brain and cause deficiencies that need to be filled. Warning signs will depend on Bobbi’s past. Some signs include overspending, insomnia, sexual indiscretion, rage, severe depression, and inappropriate behavior.”
In the Access Hollywood video below, singer Kelly Price who did an impromptu duet with Whitney at her last club outing before her death, promises to be there for Bobbi Kristina Brown.
Let’s keep the family in our thoughts.
