Jane Levy is currently negotiating with producers of “Evil Dead” to play the lead role, according to Deadline. The actress will be replacing Lily Collins, who recently exited the film.
In FilmDistrict’s remake of Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead, Levy plays Mia, one of five friends holed up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead which unleashes a demonic force possessing each until only one is left to fight.
Levy currently stars in ABC’s “Suburgatory” and the upcoming, Josh Schwartz-directed Paramount film “Fun Size”.
FilmDistrict will be co-producing with Ghost House Pictures. Fede Alvarez, who co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues, commands the director chair.
Evil Dead is scheduled to hit theaters April 12, 2013.
