Matthew Fox Lands Role In Peter Webber's Emperor

Matthew Fox has put his career in high gear since his brief acting hiatus after leaving his role as Dr. Jack Shepard in the hit television series “Lost”.  Besides starring in the two high-profile films,  Rob Cohen’s I, Alex Cross and Marc Forster’s World War Z, Fox has reportedly landed a role in Peter Webber’s “Emperor”.

The WWII film depicts Fox’s character, General Bonner Feller, in the chaotic days after the Japanese surrender, grappling with a monumental task handed down  by General Douglas MacArthur, the defacto leader that rules Japan as supreme commander of the occupying forces.  Feller’s responsibility to decide whether to try Japanese Emperor Hirohito as a war criminal and give him the death penalty, is intertwined with his quest to reconnect with a Japanese exchange student from his past.

“Emperor” is produced by Gary Foster and scripted by writers David Klass (Walking Tall) and Vera Blasi (Tortilla Soup). Filming is scheduled to begin at the end of January but a release date has not been reported at this time.

Do you think Matthew Fox has the chops to convincingly play General Bonner Feller in “Emperor”?
