Aretha Franklin is getting married! The twice married 69-year-old Queen of Soul, is engaged to her twenty plus years ‘forever friend’, William ‘Willie’ Wilkerson.
Aretha and the former Detroit firefighter met in the early 1980’s and even covered a 1987 issue of Jet magazine where the openly discussed their relationship. Fast forword 25 years later and Aretha is contemplating a summer destination wedding in Miami Beach, Florida with an exclusive reception aboard a private yacht.
On the cusp of a health scare resulting in 85 pounds lost last year, Aretha can expect to look the part of a slim, blushing bride with the help of some top designer names. Her rep dished to People,
“Ms. Franklin is considering Donna Karan, Valentino and the queen of wedding dresses, Vera Wang, to design her gown.”
In case any are wondering why Will waited over 20 years to put a ring on Aretha’s finger she’s assuring her fans it’s not because of a bun in the oven. “We’re looking at June or July for our date and no, I’m not pregnant, LOL!”
