Ice Cube and Chris Tucker are planning to make a new Friday movie. This would be the third sequel since the first Friday hit theaters in 1995.
While talking to TMZ, Tommy “Tiny” Lister, who played Debo in the original Friday said that Tucker and Cube are currently developing the project.
“There’s a lot of conversation that’s hopefully going down next week with Ice Cube and Chris Tucker about doing one more Friday”, said Lister. “This is going to be the big one. We talked on the phone a couple of weeks ago, and I’m going on Chris’ private jet to do something in St. Louis, where I chase Chris on the stage.”
Ice Cube and DJ Pooh wrote the first Friday, but there is no set writer attached to this sequel as of yet.
The original Friday, which starred Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, Tommy Lister, Nia Long, Anna Maria Horsford, John Witherspoon, Regina King, and Paula Jai Parker grossed $27.9 million from a $3.5 million budget.
This would be Tucker’s return to the Friday franchise. Next Friday and Friday After Next followed the original Friday movie but actor Chris Tucker did not star in those films.
