Amy Winehouse Joins Jimi Hendrix & Janis Joplin In Forever 27 Club

Update-Rocker Amy Winehouse has   now joined the Forever 27 Club of other great rockers such as Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison who’ve all died at the young age of   27 years old. The “Rehab” singer was found dead in her London flat according to the UK Daily on Saturday(7.23.11). Police was reportedly called to Winehouse’s home to find a lifeless female laying on the floor. Amy’s death is currently being treated as “unexplained” by London police.

Amy was last spotted with her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield at the iTunes festival where she reportedly stumbled onto the stage urging the crowd to buy Dionne’s album.

The unfortunate news comes after Amy canceled her entire European tour in June, after a much lauded performance in Belgrade. Amy who’s biggest hit “Rehab” tells the tragic tale of a woman denying rehab despite the insistence of her love ones. Amy Winehouse death is shocking to some but not to her mother who predicted prematurely in 2008 that Amy would die within the year.

Janis, Amy’s mother, stated in 2008,

“I’ve known for a long time that my daughter has problems. But seeing it on screen rammed it home. I realize my daughter could be dead within the year. We’re watching her kill herself, slowly.

I’ve already come to terms with her dead. I’ve steeled myself to ask her what ground she wants to be buried in, which cemetery. Because the drugs will get her if she stays on this road.”

All the deaths of the young rock stars were surrounded by personal tragedy – some still marred in mystery. All gone before their time, the Forever 27 Club took form when Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones was found at the bottom of a swimming pool. Within the next two years, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison lost their lives prematurely. Amy, with her petite frame, is this generations ticking time bomb –   the music industry is rocked by her death. It’s unfortunate.
