Veteran White House Correspondent April Ryan got into a strange exchange with President Donald Trump after asking him about a Jan. 19 letter from the Congressional Black Caucus.
During Thursday, Feb. 16, press conference, Trump was being questioned about his staff’s alleged contact with Russian officials during the 2016 presidential campaign and Ret. Gen. Michael Flynn’s resignation when Ryan changed course.
She asked him if he was going to meet with the Congressional Black Caucus to hammer out possible solutions to specific Black issues. Trump asked her if she was going to set it up, then remarked, “Are they friends of yours?”
His comment ignited a social media maelstrom and criticism from the CBC, which has attempted to set up a meeting him for nearly a month. In a tweet, they alleged that he has not replied nor reached out since last month.
Turns out, the Congressional Black Caucus says they DID try to set up a meeting with President Trump. pic.twitter.com/ziprvCiNog
