Dreadlock Incident Prompts San Francisco State University to Offer ‘Afro-Themed’ Dorms

San Francisco State University will provide African-American dorms to serve as a safe space for Black students.

Earlier this year, racial incidents have rocked the SFSU campus prompting protests from various student groups.

But, a viral video where a Black student called out a white student about wearing dreads brought more attention to the university.

According to CBS San Francisco, the university’s administration has conceded to the Black Student Union’s demands.

“… We want to work with student leaders in the Black Student Union and other … organizations to make sure that our … community here is inclusive …, ” SF State spokesman Jonathan Morales says.

However, the dorms are opened to everyone.
