Attorney Requests Investigation Into Miriam Carey’s Shooting At The Capitol

MiriamCareyAttorney Eric Sanders recently submitted an open letter requesting an investigation by the U.S. Justice Department for Miriam Carey, 34, a  Black woman from Connecticut who was shot to death by police for attempting to ram her car into the gate of the White House on Oct 3.

Sanders is questioning the amount of lethal force used. Sanders reviewed the information by the Stamford police and stated it did “absolutely nothing” in regards to why federal law enforcement officials chose to shoot Carey on site. There has been no response from the Justice Department regarding the matter.

According to reports, Carey had been suffering from post-partum depression. She also suffered from delusions and incidents were previously filed with the police regarding her delusions and beliefs that President Barack Obama wanted to contact her directly and that she was on a reality show for the government. Carey’s boyfriend, Eric Francis, had contacted the police on several occasions, including the day of the Capital shooting. Carey had her 1-year-old daughter in the vehicle with her, but she suffered no serious injuries.
