Ugandan Commemoration Unites East African Christians

Christians from East Africa and other parts of the world, have flocked to the central Ugandan town of Namugongo to observe Martyrs’ Day, the largest religious event in the region.
Tens of thousands of Christians have marched for days from Namugongo to the capital Kampala to honor 32 young men, members of the court of King Mwanga II of Buganda, who were burned to death for their refusal to renounce Christianity on June 3, 1886.
