Tamar Braxton reminded her 5.4 million fans who she was in a recent Instagram video where she was confidently feeling herself, figuratively and literally.
The 45-year-old vocalist rocked a deep V-neck coral pink midi dress as she ran her fingers through her hair. Braxton then began dancing and let her hand run down her body before strutting away from the video and into what looked like her bedroom as the song, “Blessed” by up-and-coming female rapper Glorilla played in the background.
Braxton captioned her video, which received over 300,000 plays, “A reminder for the basics [blue heart].”
Viewers of Braxton’s video added to her confidence level by hyping up the video in the comments section.
“We love a good hip swirl and a nasty walk off! Lol”
“Okay Tamar, you looking good!”
“Yup, you better remind their a—!”
While Braxton exudes confidence and self-love on and off screen, it hasn’t always been like that. Through the years, Braxton has had many obstacles she’s had to overcome that seemed to step more into the spotlight following her purported suicide attempt in 2020.
The mom of one talked about her self-love journey with People Magazine in June 2021, nearly one year after being in such a dark place for so long.
She explained to the magazine, “I had no idea there was another side and I see the sun more than I see the clouds.”
Braxton also revealed a time in her life of seeing a life coach and psychiatrist to help her continue to “do the work” in getting better mentally and physically.
“I have to do the work because listen, I can’t stay where I was and I have a responsibility. You know when I live- when I chose to live my life out loud how can I say ‘oh Imma show you this part but not show you this part’ You kind of have to show the middle before you get to the end.”
Since conquering her dark clouds, the performer has made it her mission to spread self-love and positivity through Instagram posts and her raw podcast, “Under Construction,” which is available for listening through Apple Music.
