Usher Says Quality Time With His Sons Has Turned Into Opportunities for the Teens to Spend His Money: ‘They Could Give a D**n”

Usher has millions of adoring fans who would give anything to have just a moment of his time. But when the music icon is off stage in the midst of domestic duties, he’s just dad.

The “My Way” vocalist recently opened up about the impact, or lack thereof, his fame seems to have on his teenage sons. In an episode of the “Tamron Hall” show, Usher said his sons, Usher “Cinco” Raymond V and Naviyd Ely Raymond, are completely unfazed by his star power.

“They don’t care. They could give a d**n,” said the “Confessions” singer. He added, “My boys, they enjoy it. I have one son, Cinco, who does not like to be called Usher, who tries to get away from it. Then another son, Navyid, who really does love entertainment.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, the Grammy Award-winning artist said that Cinco, 14, and Nayvid, 13, have reached the ages where hanging with their dad isn’t quite as cool or fun as it seemed when they were younger.

“My boys are now less interested in spending time with me, oddly,” he said before he joked, “Unless I’m taking them to a concert or paying for something they want.” Usher shares his two eldest children with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster. The couple were married for two years before they divorced in 2009.

Since then, Foster has fought back against rumors that she wed Usher for money. “It wasn’t bulls–t. It wasn’t gold-digging. I always said that I took a pay cut when I married him,” she told Page Six last year.

Usher is currently dating Jennifer Goicoechea, SVP of A&R at Epic Records. The couple have been together for almost three years and have two children together. Their first child, a daughter named Sovereign Bo Raymond, was welcomed in 2020, and a son named Sire Castrello Raymond was born in 2021.

Prior to getting with Goicoechea, the R&B GOAT said he had to do some self-correcting, which included spending two months single. He noted that throughout his career he had always been in relation with someone. “Man, it was crazy. It was good but it wasn’t as good as what I got,” he told Angie Martinez on the “IRL” podcast about his short-lived days as a single man.

Other notable moments in Usher’s dating history include his very publicized relationship with TLC’s Rozonda “Chili” Thomas. The former love birds dated for two years in the early 2000s. The breakup was marked with the release of Usher’s RIAA diamond certified album “Confessions.”

In 2018, Usher and his second wife, Grace Miguel, called it quits after three years of marriage and a nine-month separation. In a joint statement to People, the couple said, “After much thought and consideration, we have mutually decided to separate as a couple. We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives.” Miguel also served as the singer’s manager, but when the personal relationship ended so did their artist-manager dynamic.
