Lizzo‘s fans applauded the Grammy-winning singer on March 5 after she graciously clapped back at a troll who asked her how she deals with being obese. The “Truth Hurts” songstress shared the initial Instagram Live on her page with the caption “Tales from my live -Somebody asked me how I deal with being obese… it’s hard out here man no diets work.”
Lizzo said as her laugh turned into fake tears, “Not how do you deal with being obese every day. I don’t know, man. I wake up into my obese bed. I have to get, like, a king bed because I’m so obese. I put on my obese Louis Vuitton house slippers, I walk into my massive obese bathroom and just stare into my wall-to-wall obese mirrors, and I just lather myself in my obese expensive oils and creams.”
She added, “I walk into my obese gorgeous mid-century modern kitchen. By the time I made it to my kitchen, I already made another obese million dollars. My bank account is so fat. My bank account is so obese, and, like, I tried to put her on a diet, but she’s just so stubborn like, she won’t listen. But you know, it’s fine.”
Celebrities like Tina Knowles-Lawson and Lenny Kravitz, as well as fans, commended the “Good as Hell” singer for standing up for herself.
Tina Knowles-Lawson: “I love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️ who ever asks that has an obesely stupid brain !!! I love the obese bank account part 😂😂😂❤️.”
Lenny Kravitz: “Explain it to them you beautiful queen.”
“❤️❤️❤️this is THE best response EVER!”
“Obese bank account just made my year. 🔥”
“Yes Lizzo, just love you. No better way to handle the disillusioned trolls 👏🏽.”
This insensitive remark came a month after Lizzo gave fans a look into the positive daily affirmation she recites to her stomach.
She said while massaging her belly in the recording, “I love you so much. I love you soo much. Thank you so much for keeping me happy, for keeping me alive. Thank you. I’m going to continue to listen to you. You deserve all the space in the world to breathe, expand and contract and give me life. I love you.”
The singer wrote in the caption that the post’s ultimate goal was to encourage the importance of self-love. She said, “I started talking to my belly this year. Blowing her kisses and showering her with praises. I used to want to cut my stomach off I hated it so much. But it’s literally ME. I am learning to radically love every part of myself. Even if it means talking to myself every morning. This is your sign to love on yourself today! ❤️”
