Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade trapped their daughter in the middle of a love sandwich in a photo that warmed fans’ hearts.
The “L.A.’s Finest” actress, 48, and retired NBA champion, 39, were the peak of coordinated Black love in the cute family photo. Wade rocked all-black, while his wife wore a loose-fitting white top, and their baby girl Kaavia looked adorable in a black-and-white dress with white sweater.
Union kept the image’s caption short and sweet, simply writing, “L.O.V.E. 🥰🖤👶🏾,” on the photo which received more than 247,500 likes.
The Wades are continuing to share the joy that is their self-proclaimed Shady Baby on social media and soon in children’s literature as well — they’re currently co-writing a book titled after Kaavia’s nickname. “Shady Baby,” illustrated by Tara Nicole Whitaker, will follow “a powerful, funny, and super-cute, Black girl character who always keeps it real,” according to a press release, and aims to teach kids to “speak their minds and stand up for what they believe in.”
“This is our first children’s book we did together and we’re so excited for the world to read Shady Baby,” the couple told People in a joint statement. “Inspired by our daughter, Kaavia James, we wanted to create a children’s book that not only had a little Black girl as the main character but that also reflects the global community we live in.”
“We hope to give the word ‘shady’ a more positive association and use it to represent one’s moral compass to do the right thing and stand up for themselves and others,” the statement continued. “It’s important that little Black girls and boys get to see themselves in these fairy tales and for children of other races to see us in leadership roles.”
Fans loved seeing the love shared in the image, and they admitted that Kaavia’s smile brought smiles to their faces as well.
