Jazmine Sullivan Reveals She Went Vegan to Support Her Mother’s Battle with Cancer: ‘And I Feel Really Good’

Jazmine Sullivan left her fans gushing over her after she shared a gorgeous photo of herself at a recent video shoot.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, the “Bust Your Windows” songstress took to her Instagram page and shared a photo of herself on the video set for her latest single, “Lost One.” The 33-year-old was spotted barefoot, wearing a form-fitting dress. Jazmine’s hair was blown out as she wore a soft glam makeup look. The songstress posed against what appeared to be a piece of set equipment with one leg placed in front of the other, showing off her curves to her 1.4 million followers. “On set of LOST ONE video shoot. Coming soon❤️,” the singer captioned the snap.

Fans were blown away by Jazmine’s transformation, gaining the post over 135,000 likes and over 5,000 comments. Jazmine’s supporters showered her with compliments, including one person who wrote, “Lost one? More like lost 50 pounds !!!!!😩😩😩😍😍😍😍😍 you look good!!!”

Another person commented, “So you gon slay us with this bawdy, these lyrics and these vocals. Oh ok! Ya know just bracing myself for all of this goodness @jazminesullivan 😍.” 

Jazmine’s new look even had folks ready to change their diets, including someone who wrote, “Chile let me go ahead and go vegan!!! You look great, ready for the video!”

While another user reminded the star that despite her change in appearance she was always attractive. “Yesss Cousin you’ve always been beautiful now your beautiful, healthy and happy and that’s on PERIOD!” they wrote before adding, “Killing it 🙌🏽😍.”

While many people raved over the singer’s appearance, there were some who had negative things to say about her weight loss. The backlash resulted in Jazmine responding on her Instagram Story while also revealing her mother’s battle with cancer.

“I ain’t skinny and that was never my goal. My goal was to support my mother thru her battle w cancer by going vegan with her, and in turn it helped me as well. And I feel really good.”

The songstress’ post comes as she made her return to the spotlight after a two-year hiatus. “Lost One,” which Jazmine has been promoting, is her first single since her 2017 track “Insecure” with R&B singer Bryson Tiller. The song gained traction after being featured in the HBO show of the same name created by Issa Rae. 

Jazmine made her debut in 2008 with her album “Fearless,” which was nominated for seven Grammys, including Best New Artist. The singer followed “Fearless” with her 2010 critically acclaimed project “Love Me Back.” The star has received a total of 12 Grammy nominations since her breakthrough.
