‘Address the Pink Elephant in the Room’: ‘Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition’ Host Dr. Ish Shares Self-Isolation Survival Tips for Couples

Couples across the globe are getting more of each other’s time than they may have imagined thanks to COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. Communication and patience are being tested like never before, and “Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition” host Dr. Ish Major is giving them the tools they need to withstand the test of time.

The board-certified psychiatrist recently used his expertise to share helpful tips for people in relationships who may notice some strain being put on their relationships due to the additional time spent together. “Most couples don’t get into trouble because they don’t resolve issues well, they get in trouble because they never acknowledge their issues,” he told TooFab in an interview.

He went on to explain that addressing the tough issues head-on, together, is the only way to grow. “All they gotta do is go, ‘Listen, here I am. I see a humongous pink elephant sitting over here, you see that elephant? I don’t know how to get it out of here.’ And then you go from there. It’s like, ‘OK, at least we both acknowledged where we are, and let’s see how we can do this thing.'”

The We TV personality also predicted which current “Hip Hop Boot Camp” cast members have what it takes to make it to the other side of the outbreak, and which ones have no business self-isolating together.

Cee-lo and his fiancée Shani, as well as Styles P and wife Adjua are on the Make It list. Styles P and Adjua have proved themselves as fan favorites throughout the season, and, after 24 years as a couple, it’s no surprise that they seem to have hit their stride together. “They have an elegance and a grace about the way they deal with each other even when somebody is getting a little short or a little out of line,” Dr. Ish told the website.

So which couple from the show does the good doctor think doesn’t stand a chance against being quarantined together for a long period of time? “Bianca and Chozus? NO. They just — just don’t be in the same zip code. We don’t want any of that,” he said.

Dr. Ish was correct about that, but not for the reasons he may have thought — Bianca Bonnie, 27, is currently seven months pregnant with her and Chozus’ son, and she recently revealed that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

“My child’s father actually got tested, and he’s positive for the coronavirus,” Bianca told HollywoodLife late last month, “He had like a 104 fever for three days and then the test came back and it came back positive. So, as of right now, he’s just taking care of himself the best way possible.”

Chozus allegedly shared a now-deleted Instagram post also confirming his status, but hasn’t spoken of it since, and fans want updates.
