‘I’m Built for This’: Gabrielle Union Posts Message That Some Seem to Believe Is About ‘America’s Got Talent’

Gabrielle Union shared a message on Instagram that many seem to believe has to do with “America’s Got Talent.” But she didn’t mention the show or who her words were aimed at.

The message was posted to the social media site on Tuesday, Feb. 18, next to a clip of Union having her makeup applied.

“Listen, I’m built for this. I see it all and I keep high steppin for ALL of us,” wrote the actress. “My dreams, my fight, my spirit, my work is for us all. You can fight me, you can trash me, you can stand in my way… I will keep moving forward & still cover you in love and light.”

Union’s message comes a few months after it was revealed that she wouldn’t be returning as an “America’s Got Talent” judge.

Plus, it was alleged the 47-year-old was terminated after she brought up examples of racism and sexism on the set.

One part of the report, said that Union was told that frequently changing her hairstyles was too Black for TV audiences.

She also spoke out when one of the contestants, who was impersonating Beyoncé, colored his hand black to resemble the singer — although that performance never aired.

It was also said that Union complained about a joke the former late night host Jay Leno made about Asian people consuming dog meat.

Then last month, Terry Crews, who hosts “AGT,” spoke about the Variety report and denied seeing workplace discrimination. It was something he was blasted for afterward, and the actor later apologized to Union for not standing by her side.

“I want you to know it was never my intention to invalidate your experience, but that is what I did,” Crews tweeted on Jan. 31. “You are a role model to the entire black community and in my desire to be professionally neutral as your co-worker, I should have at the very least understood you just needed my support.”

Underneath Union’s recent Instagram post, people said they connected with her message and encouraged her to keep moving in the same direction.

“What is set in stone will prevail keep being authentic ✨shine bright ❤️,” one person wrote on Instagram.

“Well said loving one another and always moving forward is a fine example and you are, you got this👏👏👏🏽👏👏👏👏,” wrote someone else.

“Beautiful Caption Gab,” another person stated. “Keep your head up, and keep moving forward wonderfully 💋.”
